DNS Template Context Help:

Private Line # : The unique identifier assigned to your SprintLink circuit.

TRS Network Address : An alternate identifier to the Private Line #.

Sprint Provided Service Type:
  • Primary DNS service consists of Sprint maintaining your domain on its DNS servers. Sprint is responsible for making all changes to the zone.
  • Secondary DNS service consists of Sprint maintaining a copy of your domain on its DNS servers. The customer is responsible for making all changes to the zone.
Primary DNS servers: In order for Sprint to provide Secondary DNS services, we need to know the IP addresses of your primary DNS servers. This will allow Sprint to configure our DNS servers to pull a copy of your domain from your DNS servers.

Priority/Weight: The priority number determines which mail server is engaged first. The values provided are suggested by Sprint, but the customer may select different values as the values are relative only to each other. Lower values take precedence.

Effective Date: DNS e-mail requests will processed within 72 hours of receipt. Should you require your changes to take place outside of 72 hours, please use the calendar. Sprint does not guarantee the timeliness of requests made within the 72 hour turnaround policy.

Domain Name or Zone: The name of your registered Domain.

Reverse DNS: Reverse DNS maps IP numbers to easy to remember names as opposed to the more traditional Forward DNS that maps names to IP number. The primary use of Reverse DNS is to provide a measure of security. For example, you will need Reverse DNS to download 128-bit encryption software from Microsoft, and many e-mail servers require Reverse DNS before they will accept incoming e-mail.

Comments: Please place any special requests or questions regarding SprintLink DNS services within the comments section.
